VSC Meeting, November 2022
Sunday, November 6th at 2:00 pm EST / 8:00 pm CET
In our next meeting, Cindy will show us her amazing Stereo Nightscapes and Pascal will tell us about his research on simultaneous stereo photography with smartphones.
We will also have a Show & Tell section in which everyone is invited to share a treasured 3D item or photo they’re excited about with the community.
Save the date!
At some point, it occurred to me that there might be a way to combine my photography of the night sky with stereoscopy. Until then, these had been separate and competing interests.
There are precious few things that compare to spending the night with my cameras beneath an inky black sky. With stars so bright and numerous, I yearn to scoop them up and fill my pockets, just to share with you.
The best of two worlds: Simultaneous Smartphone Stereos
Crowded places, animals, wind or water — movement in general is a No-Go if you’re taking stereo photos with your smartphone. But moving to a full twin-camera-setup would cause other disadvantages. Most of all, if you end up having left your heavy rig at home.
These are only some reasons why I started working on a solution for syncing two smartphones. After almost a year, I have a fully functional setup with two iPhones. I’m excited to tell you about it and to show you some photos you wouldn’t believe are possible with smartphones.
Show & Tell
During our Show & Tell, everyone can show a personal 3D item. This can be a treasure of your collection, a stereo photo, or anything 3D related. We can’t wait to see you and your cool stuff! You don’t need to tell us in advance if or what you want to show, just come along!
