Where Art Meets Reality
Lindsay Cole
„COVID-19 and the subsequent lockdown saw me growing bored of the same old scenery. My stereo-subjects were limited to those in my home and the nature around it, and while I do love the forests, there are only so many ways they can be photographed. I started experimenting with stereo-edits to add a bit more excitement to the photos I took, and when lockdown ended my experiments continued! I’m a busy student but love to find time for all my hobbies, and the images in this exhibit were a great way for me to combine my love of visual art and stereophotography into one.“

A Trip To The Underworld
Mary Friargiu
„I’ll be taking you on a trip to the Underworld, where tiny skeletons with glowing red eyes — representing souls in Hell — embark on various adventures. Following the original 1860s Diableries tradition, I have given my own take to such devilish scenes – starting from crazy parties to disco days, ending with a detailed examination on each of the Seven Deadly Sins — recreating the original tissue-stereo cards magic in digital format.“
Collecting / History
Dissecting Gueidan: Analysis of a Partial Collection of Great War Stereography
Ian Ference
“In September, I received 148 slides created by one Cl. Gueidan, a photographer serving with the French Army in 1914–1915. The stereography was universally excellent. The range of subjects was staggering: the ruins of Clermont Cathedral and the Château de Soupir; an (as-of-this-promotional-snippet) unidentified hospital; the presentation of medals to a Marsouin (colonial) regiment; numerous scenes of Kitchener and Joffre and other members of High Command. While wonderful to behold, such a collection raises new questions with every slide. How complete is this body of work? How might it have come about? What does it mean, and why is it important? In this Remembrance Sunday talk, I will discuss the forensic challenges of acquiring such a wonderful group of artifacts — and I might even answer a few of those questions!”
