We can hard­ly believe it, but our final VSC meet­ing of the year is just around the cor­ner! We hope to see as many of you as pos­si­ble for this spe­cial gath­er­ing on Sunday.

We have a fan­tas­tic pre­sen­ter lined up for you. Join­ing us is Eric Kur­land, a renowned expert in ear­ly 20th-cen­tu­ry stereo views and silent films. Read more about his pre­sen­ta­tion below. After that, it’s time for anoth­er excit­ing Show and Tell and — for the grand finale of the year — the Com­mu­ni­ty Slideshow titled “Decem­ber Har­mo­ny.” If you haven’t already, be sure to sub­mit your stere­os before the dead­line on Sat­ur­day, Decem­ber 2nd. The Link Between Stereoviews and Silent Films

What do carousel hors­es, vaude­ville coun­try rubes, and a cig­a­rette-smok­ing chim­panzee have in com­mon with silent film cow­boys and come­di­ans? Eric Kur­land has been research­ing con­nec­tions between ear­ly 20th cen­tu­ry stere­oviews and silent films, and will present some of the dis­cov­er­ies from his two-week Stereo­scop­ic Fel­low­ship at the Library of Con­gress, includ­ing 3‑D images from the Exhib­it Sup­ply Com­pa­ny and the Amer­i­can Muto­scope and Bio­graph Company.
