VSC Meeting, December 2023
Sunday, December 3 at 2:00 pm EST / 8:00 pm CET
We can hardly believe it, but our final VSC meeting of the year is just around the corner! We hope to see as many of you as possible for this special gathering on Sunday.
We have a fantastic presenter lined up for you. Joining us is Eric Kurland, a renowned expert in early 20th-century stereo views and silent films. Read more about his presentation below. After that, it’s time for another exciting Show and Tell and — for the grand finale of the year — the Community Slideshow titled “December Harmony.” If you haven’t already, be sure to submit your stereos before the deadline on Saturday, December 2nd. Don’t miss out on this incredible opportunity to showcase your talent and be part of our memorable year-end slideshow.
Let’s make this final VSC meeting of the year one to remember. Mark your calendars, gather your stereos, and get ready for an unforgettable Sunday filled with knowledge, excitement, and the joy of community.
See you there!
The Link Between Stereoviews and Silent Films
What do carousel horses, vaudeville country rubes, and a cigarette-smoking chimpanzee have in common with silent film cowboys and comedians? Eric Kurland has been researching connections between early 20th century stereoviews and silent films, and will present some of the discoveries from his two-week Stereoscopic Fellowship at the Library of Congress, including 3‑D images from the Exhibit Supply Company and the American Mutoscope and Biograph Company.
Show & Tell
During our Show & Tell, everyone can show a personal 3D item. This can be a treasure of your collection, a stereo photo, or anything 3D related. We can’t wait to see you and your cool stuff! You don’t need to tell us in advance if or what you want to show, just come along!
Community Slide Show
Immerse yourself in the captivating beauty of December through a collection of stereo photographs, all centered around the theme of harmony during this festive season. Experience the magic of winter landscapes, joyful gatherings, and the unique traditions that make December special.
