Let’s put this little monkey in 3D!

I am an animator/illustrator from Belgium and I’m mostly doing children illustrations. I created a little monkey called Sponjo. After buying a 100 years old stereoscope, I decided to manually adapt my illustrations of Sponjo in stereoscopic 3d and print them so that they would fit my old stereoscope. This is the work I’d like to show you today!

Stereo Photography on Film

The Kodak Stereo Camera from the 1950’s, and the Reto 3d Camera from 2019 to present. The included slideshow will present stereo results taken on 35mm film and show how both cameras have pros, cons and many differing features.

The 1950’s — The American Dream

The 1950s and early 1960s were a boom period for stereoscopic 3‑D slides taken on Kodachrome film with cameras like the Stereo Realist. For many years we have been duplicating 3‑D slides from that period, and this is a short show compiled from these vintage images. The majority were taken in the Southern California area.

Using the Leiapix 2D to 3D Conversion App to Produce Stereoscopic Images

William Angel

My slideshow illustrates how I have used the Leiapix 2D to 3D conversion app to convert some of my regular photographs into stereoscopic images. I believe that these images illustrate some of the situations where a 2D to 3D image conversion yields better results than taking two images in sequence that are slightly offset ( using the “cha cha” step to the side method) and then combining those two images into a stereo pair. This would include situations where there are people and animals present in the scene.

This short film will transport you into the world of steampunk – a genre inspired by Victorian Era industrialism that is simultaneously retro and futuristic.

Vanessa Grein and David Kuntz will take you there in their imaginative and fanciful stereo card set Steampunk Menagerie. This set depicts various steampunk creatures and won the Tex Treadwell Award at 3D-Con 2023. Vanessa and David will also give some insights into their inspirations and bring some of the original Steampunk figurines to the meeting.

Burning Man 3D: Dust and Fire

Harold Baize has been documenting the Burning Man festival with stereo photography since 1996. His talk will focus on the challenges of stereo photography in the harsh environment, in particular the task of getting a good image of the burn of the man. He will also talk about sharing stereo images on the web and VR platforms, as well as other stereo and VR projects.

Towards a Hyperdimensional Cinema

Peter Rose

A survey of some of the recent work I’ve done in stereoscopic video.  Some of these were shot using a two-camera rig I will demonstrate; others were made with the Fuji W‑3; and still others were crafted using a single I‑Phone. Footage includes video shot at Machu Pichu, film shot during a total solar eclipse, and excerpts from a transcontinental journey. I will also show brief excerpts from the 2D films and videos that have led up to this work.
